Common AI photo prompt mistakes and how to fix them
Most disappointing AI photo results come from a handful of prompt mistakes. The good news is that each one has a quick fix.
1. Being too vague
“Make me look professional” can mean a hundred things. Name the outfit, background and lighting you want instead.
2. Mixing too many styles
Asking for a painting, a cartoon and a realistic photo in one prompt confuses the result. Choose one main style and keep the rest simple.
3. Giving conflicting instructions
“Bright sunny beach at night” pulls in two directions. Read your prompt once before sending and remove anything that contradicts something else.
4. Forgetting to protect the face
If you want to look like yourself, say so. Add a line such as “keep the face and identity unchanged” near the start of the prompt.
5. Starting with a poor photo
A blurry, dark or very small photo limits the result. Use a sharp, well-lit picture where your face is clearly visible.
6. Expecting the exact same result every time
AI tools produce a new variation each time. If you like a result, save it right away. If you want something different, change one detail in the prompt and generate again.
A quick checklist
- Does the prompt say what must stay the same?
- Is each part (outfit, background, light, style) described clearly?
- Is there a short “avoid” line?
- Is your source photo sharp and well lit?
